We're all familiar with beginner-level motivation tactics, such as orchestra karate, but what if the excitement over technique-based learning could continue? LaLonde and Sluder will discuss the possibilities and logistics of extending individual skill development (and fun!) beyond the beginner year. While the model that will be shared is based on our co-teaching environment, strategies for "singleton" directors will also be included. The level being presented will be based on the clinician's experience with the middle school curriculum, but the methods are applicable to all levels.
The presentation will include: setting up a high-yield sequence of skills, organizing the administrative tracking of student progress, custom-tailoring the "fun", time and space logistics, and most-importantly, why this is worth fitting into your rehearsal time.
