Dr. Jolene Webster has served as Music Minister at several churches across Texas, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee over the past four decades, including Baptist, Lutheran, and Methodist churches. She is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and holds ministerial certification from Capital University Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. She has been an ordained Minister of Word and Service in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since 2004.
She is currently Director of Music Ministries at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Prior appointments include University United Methodist Church, Austin; St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Fort Worth; Rejoice Lutheran Church, Coppell; as well as several Baptist and Methodist churches across Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Texas.
Dr. Webster is Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Texas at Arlington teaching Strategies and Assessment in Music Education, Class Voice, and University Music Education Secondary Choral and Elementary Music Clinical Teaching Supervisor.
She holds a Doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Wesleyan University, 2015, Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1988, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Religious Education. Dr. Webster holds Lifetime All-Level Music Certification, 1990, as well as Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System Certification, 2019.
Dr. Webster has a wealth of musical experience. She instituted the choral music program and served as head choral director at Coppell High School, 1989-2006. She also served as head choral director at Paschal High School, 2006-2011, and in central administration she coordinated Advanced Academic Activities at Fort Worth I.S.D. 2011-2015. Choirs under her direction have been invited twice to perform at Texas Music Educators Association (1997, 2006) and twice at American Choral Directors Association (2002, 2006).
Before teaching at UTA Dr. Webster served as University Field Supervisor for Music Education Clinical Teachers at The University of Texas at Austin. She served as consultant to Del Valle I.S.D. Fine Arts Curriculum and Instruction. She is in high demand as a conductor, clinician and adjudicator for regional, state and national choral contests and festivals. Dr. Webster has a strong and extensive international conducting resume, including several countries – Italy, France, England, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Canada.
Dr. Webster's teaching awards include: District Teacher of the Year, 2009; Texas Region XI Secondary Teacher of the Year, 2010; Bayard H. Friedman Teaching Chair for Excellence in Performing Arts 2009-2010; and Chesapeake Energy HERO Award 2010.
