Stephen Hawthorne-Hill is a native of Dallas, Texas who is currently in his 9th year of teaching. This year marks his 8th exciting year as Director of Choirs at Timberview Middle School in Keller ISD. Mr. Hawthorne-Hill graduated from the University of North Texas in 2014, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in General, Choral and Instrumental Music. In 2021, he also received a Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas-Arlington. Prior to teaching in Keller ISD, Mr. Hawthorne-Hill taught at Collins Middle School and Drane Intermediate in Corsicana ISD. In 2015, he was awarded the Rising Star of Education award presented by the CISD Education Foundation. He currently serves as the TMS Fine Arts Lead, serves on several leadership councils and cadres on campus and was highlighted with the spotlight on teacher’s award in 2019 and 2021, and was just recently named the teacher of the year for his campus. He has served as a judge for middle school and high school solo and ensemble contests, UIL contests, served as a guest clinician all around the state, and judged several middle school and high school district, region, and state auditions. He was selected as the Lead Intermediate Choir Director in Keller ISD from 2016-2019 and currently serves as Region 30’s Middle School Vocal Coordinator. His formal and show choirs consistently receive grand championships, superior ratings, outstanding performance awards, best in class, sweepstakes, and best in festival awards at contest and competitions. He has led professional development on the campus, district, and state levels and is an active member of ACDA, TMEA, and TCDA where he served on the hospitality committee in 2018. During the 2020-2021 school year his 5th and 6th grade honor choir was invited and performed as one of only 3 groups in the state of Texas to perform at TMEA. When Mr. Hawthorne-Hill is not directing choirs with his awesome associate director Helen McDaniel at TMS, he can usually be found on a basketball court, traveling, hanging out with friends, playing video games, or singing karaoke.
