Lauren Albright is originally from Easton, Pennsylvania but has lived and worked in the Rio Grande Valley since 2010. She graduated with honors from the American University in Washington, DC where she obtained both a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance and broadcast journalism. During her undergraduate career, she was a featured soloist in performances of Bach’s “Magnificat” and Handel’s “Dixit Dominus,” including on tour in Hungary and Romania. Ms. Albright continues to perform professionally as a founding member of Pasión, a professional choir in the Rio Grande Valley and leads worship at First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas. She has been the head director at Alonzo De Leon Middle School in McAllen, TX for the past 8 years where her students have consistently earned Superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation and membership in the Region Choirs. Ms. Albright has served as the Region XV Junior High Vocal Division Secretary/Treasurer for the past four years and is a member of both the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Choral Directors Association. Before her current position, Ms. Albright spent time as the Head Director at Alamo Middle School in Alamo, TX where she was named a Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teacher Leadership Award regional finalist and as a teacher coach for Teach for America. She currently resides in McAllen, TX with her husband, three children and three dogs.
