Hockley, Texas
Jaime Trigo has been teaching for 27 years in the state of Texas and is currently in his 13th year at Landrum Middle School in Spring Branch ISD in Houston, Texas. His program in Houston consists of 7 choirs, 4 of which go to contest and consistently earn Sweepstakes at UIL and Best in Class in varying contests. He currently is the coordinator and host the district MS Choir Solo & Ensemble Contests and for both Pre-UIL AND UIL Contests in his Region, all while taking 4 groups to contest (without an assistant!). Mr. Trigo hails from San Diego, Texas, a small South Texas town halfway between Corpus Christi and Laredo, where he started his career teaching for 9 years at San Diego HS and MS then for 3 years at Gregory-Portland JH. After attending the University of Texas at Austin under scholarship as he studied Electrical Engineering, Mr. Trigo went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force where he was named 13th Air Force Airman of the Year. He then returned to Texas to get his Bachelor's of Music from Texas A & M Kingsville where he graduated top of his class, Magna Cum Laude. His professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA and TMAA. He judges UIL Contests and clinics choirs all over the state of Texas and has also served as Region Clinician for Middle School Choirs throughout the state. He teaches guitar/bass/piano/voice at his private studio, and was named Spring Branch ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2015. He is a newly contracted conductor for the newly formed Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus in Houston. Mr. Trigo, a rock and roll guitar player converted Choir Director, also plays contemporary guitar for his church, and still plays rock and roll on occasion with his band all across the state. He still lives a large family home life, as he is extremely close (like 8 miles apart) with his daughter, her fiancée, and his inspirations, his 3 grandkids, Silas (15-the HS baseball player and HUGE Astros fan), Karley (13-who sings in her grandpa’s Varsity Girls Choir) and little Dolph (4-who keeps Popo busy every Saturday when he babysits!).
