Amanda Ransom is in her fifteenth year of teaching and her 11th year as head director at Artie Henry Middle School. Under her direction, the HMS Choirs have consistently earned Sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation and recognition at local and regional festivals.
Mrs. Ransom holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree in Choral Music, magna cum laude, from the University of North Texas. While attending North Texas, Mrs. Ransom sang in choirs under the direction of Dr. Alan McClung and Dr. Jerry McCoy and studied voice with Richard Croft. Additionally, she has sung with Chorus Austin.
Mrs. Ransom conducted the TMEA Region 21 Middle School Treble choir in 2017 and the TMEA Region 26 7th Grade Treble choir in 2019. In 2012 Mrs. Ransom was the assistant director for the Varsity Treble Choir at their Texas Music Educator’s Association performance. The Varsity Mixed Choir performed alongside the Arite Henry Middle School Honor Band on their CCC Honor Band Performance at TMEA in 2018. The Varsity Treble Choir was invited to perform at the Middle School/Junior High National Conference for Choral Music in 2018 under her direction. The Varsity Treble Choir was also invited to perform at the 2019 American Choral Director’s Association National Conference in Kansas City Missouri. Mrs. Ransom is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA, and TMAA.
Mrs. Ransom enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their three children, Charlotte, Michael, and Eleanor.
