Dr. Laurie Williams is Director of Music Education Programs and Director of Orchestras at the University of Indianapolis, where she has taught for four years. She is a member of Orchestra Indiana as a violist and recently completed Kodály Level 3 Training at the West Texas Kodály Initiative. Prior to her appointment in Indiana, Dr. Williams taught at the University of Texas-San Antonio, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Texas Tech University, a several K-12 public schools in the areas of general music, orchestra, and band. She also served as Artistic Director/Conductor with the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock for 23 years.
Currently, Dr. Williams serves on the ASTA Research Editorial Committee and the TexASTA Board as treasurer. She maintains an active conducting and teaching schedule, serving frequently as a guest clinician and judge for instrumental groups in throughout the country.
